What is Grappling ?

Grappling is a fighting system that focuses on the clinch, takedowns, and ground fighting.

Grappling can be found in many different martial arts, but is most commonly associated with Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Judo. 


The clinch is a position where one fighter has their arms wrapped around the other, usually from behind, in order to control their movement. Clinching can be used to set up takedowns or strikes, or to simply control and wear down an opponent. 

Takedowns are a fundamental part of grappling, and involve taking an opponent to the ground. There are many different ways to execute a takedown, but they all typically involve using leverage and timing to take an opponent off their feet. 

Once the fight hits the ground, grapplers will attempt to control their opponent using a variety of techniques. This can involve applying submissions, such as chokes and arm locks, or simply maintaining a dominant position and preventing the other fighter from escaping. 

Grappling is a complex and technical fighting style that takes years to master. But, for those willing to put in the time and effort, it can be an incredibly effective way to fight.
